“Protection of spiecies as a methodology towards sustainable urban architecture”

Ever since the start of my architecture studies at Sintlucas (Ghent) I’ve been fascinated by future development in architecture. Combined with a natural affection for the natural environment and (elective) courses on ‘oecology’, landscaping architectural and Environmental sustainability I’ve developed a strong fascination for what I call ‘Urban Nature’. More specific trough the years I’ve come to believe that a stronger relationship or interaction between Architecture and nature can contribute to sustainable urban development. I am convinced that an environment where nature and architecture are more narrow interwoven, contributes to a more diverse, interesting and endurable cultural society. The Early beginnings on that matter have always been present in my Designs and have lead to some design suggestions for experimental (urban) housing that try to reintroduce nature and architecture. Recently I took a first shot on writing the concept of ‘Urban Nature’ down for an elective course on architecture and sustainability. “ protection of species as a methodology towards sustainable architecture” which I hope to optimize during the research.
